Premiere + Pre-orders for Drophead vs. Silent Land Time Machine – From Ashes Comes the Day (HD020)

HD020 Drophead vs Silent Land Time Machine Premiere

HOLODECK is proud to announce the premiere of the upcoming Drophead vs. Silent Land Time Machine collaboration From Ashes Comes the Day, c/o the ever-vigilant Tiny Mix Tapes – you can hear it here or below. This album has been a long-time-coming and we are very excited to present it this Autumn – we have also opened pre-orders for the limited vinyl & tape editions, and digital pre-order can be had at our bandcamp.

From Ashes Comes the Day will be released on 10/14/14 in a limited vinyl pressing of 300 with hand-silk screened covers by Montréal-based musician & visual artist Nick Kuepfer (making each vinyl cover totally unique / see above), as well as 200 pro-dubbed chrome-plus cassettes and digital. The album will be collaboratively released with Eric Craven’s Drophead imprint and marks another cooperative effort between HOLODECK and our friends in the far away city of Montréal.

Pre-order a copy of the limited edition vinyl or tape at our STORE. For all the information you ever wanted on From Ashes Comes the Day go to the RELEASE PAGE.

Announcing – Drophead vs. Silent Land Time Machine – From Ashes Comes the Day (HD020/DH005)

HOLODECK is proud to announce & give a sneak preview of yet another release that has roots both in Austin and in Montréal. From Ashes Comes the Day is the result of the alliance between Montréal’s Eric Craven (Drophead) and Austin’s Jonathan Slade (Silent Land Time Machine). For more than a decade Craven has been a prominent member of Montréal’s experimental music community, widely known as the drummer in HRSTA and Hangedup (Constellation Records). His recent solo work as Drophead finds Craven buried in layers of drums and homemade percussion as well as guitar, field recordings, and a vast array of other instruments. Now on Drophead’s vinyl debut Craven’s outsider take on guitar and keyboard assimilates the tenor of Austin’s foremost experimental violist/vocalist and co-founder of HOLODECK records, Jonathan Slade. Slade is best known for his two albums as electro-acoustic solo-ensemble Silent Land Time Machine and his work in the bands Lumens and AMASA•GANA. Together, Craven and Slade push each other into expansive new territory, fully embracing a darker yet broader sphere of expression and emotive depth. The dialogue of tidal chaos and isolation that wax and wane across both hemispheres of From Ashes Comes the Day makes this a highly unique release for both artists.
