Symbol – Online Architecture (HD022/LLR009)
HOLODECK & Light Lodge Records – Release: 4/8/14 – LP (500) / CS (200) / DL

ATTN: Clear Passage, the first selection off Symbol’s debut Online Architecture (HD022/LLR009) is now streaming for your aural enjoyment. A download of Clear Passage will come with digital DL pre-order of Online Architecture from either the HOLODECK bandcamp or via the iTunes store as of 3/6/14.

Symbol is the solo effort of producer and multi-instrumentalist Christopher Royal King. Best known as a founding member and lead guitarist of the massive orchestral-rock ensemble This Will Destroy You, King has also composed and recorded scores for a host of prominent feature-films and documentaries, established Light Lodge Records, and moonlights in Austin’s amorphous ambient collective AMASA•GANA. Now, on his first solitary odyssey apart from TWDY King’s masterful ear for signal processing and affinity for corroded elegance takes free reign over a vastly expanded inventory of instrumentation. Throughout Symbol’s debut Online Architecture (out on HOLODECK / LIGHT LODGE April 8th 2014 on LP / CS / DL) organic sound-sources are meticulously transmuted through chains of modules and magnetic tape, each successive stage creating a compounded quantity of detail and decay. After four studio albums with TWDY King has crafted an arresting solo debut that is both gorgeously tranquil and devastatingly heavy, offering a direct-line into his psyche which had not existed until now.

Shortly before Online Architecture‘s release This Will Destroy You will shove off on a West Coast tour from March 12th to 22nd in support of their recently released Live in Reykjavik, Iceland 3xLP live album (OCT 2013 Magic Bullet Records). TWDY will be supported on tour by HOLODECK co-founder Silent Land Time Machine, who will also join TWDY on strings. Silent Land Time Machine’s last album, the ambitiously titled I am No Longer Alone with Myself and Can Only Artificially Recall the Scary and Beautiful Feeling of Solitude EP (out June / Sept 2012 on 180g 12″ EP / CS on HOLODECK) will be followed by his upcoming collaborative effort with Montréal’s Eric Craven (Hangedup, HRSTA) called Drophead vs. Silent Land Time Machine, From Ashes Comes the Day (HD020/DH005, due out on HOLODECK in 2014). The tour will happen concurrently with HOLODECK Record’s official SXSW showcase on Friday 3/14 at Red 7, featuring a host of our roster, including S U R V I V E, Troller, Marie Davidson (Montréal), SSLEEPERHOLD, Thousand Foot Whale Claw, and Dylan C.
